Red Bull and The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art
Opening reception Saturday, May 30, 7pm – 11pm.

Over the Art Car weekend Red Bull with help from the Orange Show found seven street artists to paint seven car hoods. They were on display at Discovery Green and now you will have a chance to view (and purchase) them in our outside Gallery this weekend.

Dreams to Dreams: DCTO Custom Show 2008.

Dacosta! a.k.a CHOCOLATE SOOP and the Japanese American National Museum have assembled the first custom toy show held in a museum. 45+ artists have customized his DCTO (Dreams Come True Object) Jibun Project, a futuristic version of the traditional Daruma toy. The theme of the show is “Dreams to Dreams” and is based on the poem of the same title which speaks to childhood dreams, possibilities and looking to the future.

The finished art pieces will be on display at the Japanese American National Museum from December 1, 2008 through January 4, 2009. Pieces will be available for sale through the Museum Store.

*Opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2008

The show will lead up to Oshogatsu weekend (a significant celebration in Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo area). there will be educational and entertaining programs that tell the significance of Daruma and other cultural icons for the New Year.

ToyQube Custom Sharky Show

This is a custom toy for Super Modified Studios Mod:1 at Comic-Con 2008.
Nick Manion, the creator of the toy, sent out a limited number of these to get customized.

Vinyl Pulse posted some info on the Derailed show at Cardboard Spaceship in Santa Cruz.

Custom bears, custom bunnies… All well and good. But, what ever happened to the ‘urban’ element…? Derailed brings it all back with a group show featuring customized All City Style subway trains. The show opens on May 2nd 2008 @ Cardboard Spaceship in Santa Cruz with a talented and diverse lineup.

Here is my piece for the show. I supplied the artwork and Kurt Barbee at 5280Laser did the cutting and assembly.
