Halloween 2010 Shield

Started on the shield today. I wrapped the handle yesterday with nylon string but didn’t like the look so today I bought some hemp string and it turned out better!!
I also repainted the shadows on the blade. I did a sloppy job the first time and had to sand it down and start again. I’m pretty happy with it this time.

I have to figure out how to add the arm strap to the back of the shield, then paint it, then I’m done!! Yay!!

Halloween 2010 Sword

I did this in about 4 hours from start to finish. I wasn’t sure how to construct it but thought of the round hand guard while at the hardware store.
This thing is build very sturdy. The handle is pressure fit, then epoxied. The grip locks the cross guard in place.

I painted a shadow down the center of the blade to make it look hollow ground. I’m going to wrap the handle with leather later this week.

Introducing The Pomson 6000

District 9 Assault Rifle

Got to play with this at SDCC! It’s very cool!

The first gun presented to Wikus van der Merwe (by the MNU scientists) at the underground shooting range at MNU headquarters, the Assault Rifle makes short work of the porcine cadaver strung up for target practice.

This is known about the science behind the Assault Rifle, according to
Designer Greg Broadmore:

“The tubes down the side each discharge an explosive burst of gas one after the other down the length of the barrel behind the projectile – a linear accelerator gun, like a rail gun but without the magnets. Of course it would fire these all rapidly to get a high rate of fire.”

PLEASE NOTE: Unless your genetic makeup is part prawn, you cannot power up or fire this gun.

We entered the school fair Halloween Costume Contest this weekend. They didn’t have a Sci-Fi category this year so we entered the Most Original Category.

Commander-X got 2nd place. He got beat out by Mario. Hmmm, I think I’m missing something here!! I’ll let you decide for yourself but I don’t think Mario is in the same league as Commander-X.

There was also a cartoon and game character category which is where Mario should have been entered. Maybe his brother Luigi won that category!!
